Program description:
This program examines law and legal structure in a social context. Course topics include theoretical approaches to law, historical perspectives on the origins of law; rationality and legal sanctions; normative and moral decision-making; crime and deviance, "law in action" versus "law in the books"; the roles of lawyers, judges, and juries; and law and social change with a special focus on the civil rights movement.
